About
Keep it simple.
Hi, I’m Sarah! Welcome to Simply IEP! I’m just a gal who loves all things Century Gothic and simple teaching materials paired with clearly written and measurable IEP goals and data sheets. I have a heart for teaching reading decoding and basic math and writing skills to students and watching them grow. If I’m not teaching students or working on Simply IEP, you can find me playing with my children, learning how to garden, propagating my pothos plants, feeding my menagerie of animals, camping at the beach or in the desert, or listening to country music.
I’ve been a mild/moderate Special Education teacher/Ed Specialist since 2012. I’ve spent most of my career working at a public school as a Resource Specialist for 8 years. During those 8 years of supporting students with IEPs in grades Kinder-6th, I learned so much about collaborating with IEP teams, writing clear IEP goals, making easy to use IEP goal data sheets, and designing effective teaching materials and goal assessments for my students.
Since 2019, a lot of life has happened for myself and my family. I became a mom, started my TPT store, moved to Tennessee and then back to California, worked in a middle school as an 8th grade Resource teacher, and now support home school families.
I’ve been dreaming up Simply IEP for years, and have been working hard to make it a reality. I want to help Resource teachers and Education Specialists who have many students on their caseload with a wide range of IEP goals. I know how hard it is to manage all the things–write IEPs, collect data on IEP goals, plan small group lessons, modify curriculum from the classroom, provide inclusion support, get info from Gen Ed teachers, communicate with parents, schedule IEP meetings, etc. The list goes on and on!
Through my blog I want to provide you ideas and resources to help you be the best teacher and IEP team as possible. Topics you can read about on the Simply IEP blog include: General Education Teacher IEP Input Form, how to organize IEP paperwork, IEP goal data sheet ideas, IEP goals bank for different subjects, supplemental teaching materials, and Special Education materials for teachers. The subject areas that I have the most experience in teaching and creating Sped teaching resources for include: Reading Decoding, Sight Words, Reading Fluency, Writing, Math Calculation, and Math Reasoning.
